McKEOWN, James Charles Ralph
August 22, 1924 – December 28, 2018
Died peacefully in his ninety fifth year. He was born near Odessa, raised in Portsmouth and educated at Regiopolis College in Kingston. Ralph was a Second World War veteran, long time Du Pont employee and former director of Amherstview Golf Club. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Pauline (nee Dunphy), daughter Anna (Kelly), son Lawrence (Kathryn Picco), sister Patricia (Proderick) and brother Joseph. He was predeceased by his sisters Marion (McKenna), Alice and Teresa (Smart) and by his brother Jack. “Poppy” will be missed by grandchildren Meghan, Daniel, Eric, Keara and Trevor as well as by greatgrandchildren Deegan and Zoey. Uncle Ralph will be remembered by many nieces and nephews. On behalf of the “Duke”, a special thanks to his Portsmouth contemporaries for their loyal friendship and to his Pember Place neighbours for their kindness. Friends and family are invited to the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME (1900 John Counter Blvd.) on Wednesday January 2 from 7 to 9pm or on Thursday January 3 from 2 to 4pm and from 7 to 9pm. Funeral mass is scheduled for St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (392 Palace Road) at 10:30am on Friday January 4, 2019.
In Ralph’s memory donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 560 or the charity of your choice.
