In 1973, Jim went to work for Burnbrae Farms in Lyn and remained there, even after his “official retirement” in various roles until March of 2017.
Always involved in community service, Jim began his extensive work as a volunteer very early on. He was a Scout Leader and he umpired minor baseball for over 40 years. He was a founding member of the Elizabethtown Recreation Committee and was a part of many projects undertaken to increase access to sports and recreation in the township. He served on the United Way of Leeds and Grenville committee and the Lyn Library board. He has been named Person of the Year in Lyn and was inducted into the Brockville and Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.
A person of strong faith, Jim taught Sunday School for many years, was the Sunday School Superintendent of his church as well as serving on the Church Board.
His lifelong affiliation with the Progressive Conservative Party, and his tireless efforts on behalf of local candidates throughout the years, earned him a lifetime membership with the Party. Jim loved Canada and was a true patriot.
He is now a citizen of a different and eternal Kingdom, having finished his course with faithfulness.
