Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
James Everitt Van Sickle was born in Edmonton on August 12, 1938 to Joseph and Effie Van Sickle. He was raised in Looma on the farm and then at the Looma Meat Market. He attended Looma School to grade 8. From school he went to the oilfield. On September 19, 1958 he married Dorothy Robinson.
They lived for a short period of time in Edmonton. From there they moved to an acreage by Looma. Within the first three years of marriage three children were born, Twyla, Dale, and Dwaine. During these early years, Jim quit the oilfield and worked as a guard at Fort Saskachewan Correctional Penitentiary, and then Stelco for ten years.
In 1971 they moved to Rollyview to operate a chicken operation. This was the catalyst for the move to Tofield in 1972. Jim remained on the farm until January 2018. He resided at the Tofield Lodge from January 2018 until his passing.
Besides farming, he enjoyed many social evenings playing cards, community dances, fishing, numerous winter holidays, and eventually wintering in Arizona.
He is survived by his children: Twyla, Dale (Elaine), and Dwaine (Jo-Anne); his grandchildren: Jamie, Melissa, Devin, Ashley, Michael (Lindsay), Tyler, Landon, and Brayden; and one great grand daughter Callie.
He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy; his parents, and all his siblings.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of James Everitt Van Sickle 2018..
