Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of James Chaffey
Prebble 1938 2018..
Death notice for the town of: Kemptville, Province: Ontario
I had Mr. Prebble as my high school English teacher. He was amazing, kind and fair. My deepest sympathies.
Mr. Prebble was my grade 12 English teacher at SCHS in 1990. He was a wonderful teacher, I have never forgotten him. My deepest sympathies to his family. May he rest in peace.
I often thought about him and what a kind and caring teacher he was. He was my favourite. When my mom passed I found a letter he had written praising me as a good student and she had written a thank you reply and expressed her pride in me and her gratitude for his devotion to his students. I’m sad to hear that he is gone. My condolences to his loved ones.
Mr. Prebble was a fine man of honour.
He had a little temper but he never took it out on his students. At South Carleton High School, back around 1980, he appeared at school with a cast on his wrist and hand. I ask, “what happened”.
He said that he had backed into a filing cabinet and the corner had hurt his back, so much, that he punched the filing cabinet.
In class, he was very clear in helping his students with encouragement, discipline, and listening. He had the gift of knowing what was the right thing to say or do in every situation. This is why I call him a man of honour.
Mr. Jim Prebble played basketball against my Dad in the semi-professional Ottawa league in the 1960’s. My Dad said that he was a strong, tough center to play against.
I liked his dry sense of humour and his great smile and charisma.
Wishing peace and great memories to Mr. Prebble’s students, friends and family. I hope my teacher is proud of this short piece of writing.
RIP.
I can’t say that I remember all my teachers when I think of my high school years. But he was definitely one that left an impact. Such a kind man and truly a great teacher. One that will never be forgotten .
My condolences to the family.
Blessings to his family. Mr. Prebble – never Jim, even when I practice taught as SCHS – was one of my favourite teachers. His trivia contests made his already interesting classes that much more interesting.
Condolances to the family, i was one of Mr Prebble’s students in 1983
