It is with great sadness the family announces the death of Jim McWhinney of Kitchener. Jim died peacefully at Trinity Village Long Term Care Centre, at 80 years of age, with his family at his side.
Beloved husband of the late Tess McWhinney (2016). Loving step-father of Ann Harbridge, Albert Hiemstra, Andy (Cindy) Hiemstra, Alice (David/Grip) Koehn and Art (Ruth) Hiemstra. He is predeceased by his stepdaughter Audrey Bendus (2016), stepson-in-law Ross Harbridge (2001) and stepdaughter-in-law Jackie Hiemstra (2009). He is a loving grandpa to 12 grandchildren, Kevin (Anna) Hiemstra, Derek (Mara) Harbridge, Crystal (Larry) Beaver, Kristy (Scott) McMahon, Jennifer (Shawn) Harbridge, Samantha (Scott) Schultz, Terri (Peter) Harvey, Ayren (Mack) Hiemstra, Josh (Joanne) Koehn, Whitney (Tyler) Hiemstra, Jeremy (Lisa) Hiemstra, Theresa Hiemstra.
He will also be missed and remembered by 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. He is predeceased by his parents and his own siblings. He is fondly remembered by the wonderfully loving and caring family he had at Trinity Village Long Term Care Centre.
Jim’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, November 1st from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and will continue on Friday from 10-10:45 am at the Henry Walser Funeral Home. The memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life will take place at 11 am on Friday, November 2, 2018 in the chapel of the funeral home followed by a reception.
Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at Memory Garden’s Cemetery.
