Obituary Overview
J. Peter Braid
June 13, 1942 – August 8, 2018.
Predeceased by parents Kay and Clarence Braid, father-in-law Hans Albani, brother Michael and sisters-in-law Marjorie and Judy.
Survived by wife Lydia Margaret, children Carolyne, JD (Shelley) of Brandon, grandchildren Aria and Noah van den Berg; Jordan, Justin and Sierra Braid; brother Jeff (Barb), sister Susan Forbes (Barrie), brother-in-law Ralph Albani (Elizabeth), mother-in-law Friedel Albani, uncle Gunter Tuttahs, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Peter attended River Heights and Kelvin High School and graduated from the St Paul’s College, University of Manitoba, in 1969.
In 1967, Peter moved to the Yukon with no plans or experience and ended up as the head surveyor on the Faro mine project. He returned to Winnipeg in 1968 to complete his degree.
After graduation, he married Marg and went on a four month honeymoon through 11 countries in Europe. On his return he began his career in sales with Pedlar People until 1975 when he and three others formed Interior Space Systems, Ltd., a company specializing in industrial shelving and storage products, which he operated for 19 years. In 1994 he joined Wearing Williams and enjoyed the best years of his working life. For 28 years, Peter was a member of The Metro Business Club of Winnipeg. Upon retirement in 2008, he and Marg moved to Shenyang, China. Marg taught English at a university and Peter spent his time exploring the city by bike and playing pool. They returned to China several times over the next 8 years, with the last stint in Beijing in 2017. While there, they enjoyed experiencing Chinese culture and had many fantastic meals.
Over the course of the years, Peter and Marg had many adventures: hiking the West Coast trail, the Inca trail to Machupichu, bike trips through Holland and Austria, skydiving, and many road trips in Europe, Canada and the US. A favourite activity was the annual ski trip to Big Sky, Montana.
In retirement, Peter began a co-op position cleaning pool tables at Flea Whiskies in exchange for free pool games and the occasional lunch. He joined Refit and attended 3 – 4 times a week until his illness prevented it in April of this year.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Wayne Morrissey at St John Brebeuf Church, 1707 John Brebeuf Place, at 11:00 am, on Monday, August 13, 2018.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Contributions to CancerCare MB will be appreciated.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of J Peter Braid 2018..
