Obituary Overview
Remembering Sally
HYACINTH ADASSA MCLAREN (SALLY)
1 FEB 1937 – 10 DEC 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Hyacinth Adassa McLaren, affectionately known as “Sally”, announce her passing after an unexpected illness on December 10, 2018.
She was predeceased by her parents, Eleanor Thomas and John McLaren; sisters Olga, Sarah, Susie, and brother Siebert. Sally will be lovingly remembered by sisters Ruby and Clemmy, and brother Herbie; children – son Junior Hamilton (Maureen) and daughter Natalie Bennett; grandchildren Jason Hamilton (Kadian), Joan Hamilton, Janice Frankson (Kemani), Jevouh Hamilton, Antowon Hamilton, Kianna Hamilton, Jermaine Hamilton and Julisa Hamilton; great grandchildren Natalia Greyson, Anthony Greyson, Jaheim Greyson, Aaligah Leopard, Giovanni Iannace, and Justin Hamilton; nephews Neville Rookwood (Claudette) & Michael Mitchell (Renette), numerous other nieces and nephews, various friends and, of course, the Bethel community. She will be affectionately remembered by the Lazarus, Lucas, and Stewart families. She will be endearingly remembered and sorely missed by the Nakai family with whom she lived and loved for almost 40 years.
Sally was born in the Parish of Clarendon, Jamaica, and worked from the age of 12 years. She took the initiative to immigrate to Canada as a young adult, having discovered early on that she wanted to care for people and was most happy when looking after children. Sally was cheerful and openly caring without ever expecting anything in return. She was devoted to the Bethel United Apostolic Church and her church family. They were a constant source of rejuvenation for her. Her natural kindness and genuine connection with others led to many friendships. Later in life she reveled in Tai Chi with an entirely new group of friends. A compassionate and forgiving soul, Sally will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family is sincerely grateful to the doctors and staff of the station 31, the operating and recovery rooms, 5East, and especially the Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for the superb care they provided at the end helping to make Sally’s journey to Heaven as painless and as peaceful as possible.
A celebration of Sally’s life will be held on Saturday, December 22 at Bethel United Church, 9950-148 Street, with a 9am viewing and a 10am service. Interment will follow at the Westlawn Cemetery, 10132-163 Street. A reception will be held at Leefield Community Hall, 7910-36 Avenue, at 2pm.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Hyacinth Adassa McLaren 2018..
