Obituary of Herminio Vieira
Vieira, Herminio Luis – After a brief illness on Tuesday, November 13th, 2018 surrounded by his loving family in his 81st year, beloved Husband of Iria, Herminio was called home to God. Loving father of Mary-Ellen Vieira (Octavio), Maria Vicente (Jack), Artur Vieira (Christina) and Susy Cockburn (Jason). Predeceased by his parents Jose and Almerinda Vieira and by 6 brothers and sisters. Survived by his siblings Maria Dos Anjos Vieira, Carlos Vieira (Aldora) Maria Sofia Moniz (Norbert). Herminio, the youngest of 11 children immigrated to Canada from Sao Miguel, Acores in 1957. In 1961 he married Iria and they began their life journey together raising their four children in Georgetown, Ontario. Herminio retired from the Town of Halton Hills after working there for over 30 years. During that time, he made many friendships and mentored many summer students. Herminio had many passions including his love for nature and his enjoyment of his many hobbies such as gardening, wine making and carpentry.
His true pride and joy were his grandchildren. Proud Vavô of Mike, Daniel (Melanie), Heather, Emily (Cory), Jaime, Richard, Alyssa and Julia.
A special thank you to Dr. Razvi and the nurses at the Georgetown Hospital. Friends will be received at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Rd., north of Maple Ave., Georgetown on Friday from 4-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church (14400 Argyll Rd., Georgetown) on Saturday November 17th, at 9:30 am. Interment Greenwood Cemetery, Georgetown.
