Henry Ramsay Steven May 17th 2018

Henry (Harry) Ramsay Steven – It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, at the age of 82, on Thursday, May 17th, 2018 after a brief illness. Harry was born in Trail, BC.
As a wee lad, Harry was raised in his family home in West Trail with his parents and older brother. Harry spent many years as a drummer in the Trail Pipe Band and was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Royal Canadian Legion. As an adult, Harry moved with his young family to work and live in Spokane, WA, later moving back to Trail where he resided until his retirement from the Cominco Smelter after 33 years of employment. He was a skilled Carpenter, Millwright, and Supervisor extraordinaire. “Any job worth doing is worth doing right”! After retirement, Harry lived life to the fullest, spending his winters in Arizona and his summers at Christina Lake.
In the morning, Harry could often be found sitting in the sun in his lawn chair reading the newspaper. After a day of working on whatever his current project was, usually perfecting the lawns, he would shift to a cold beer in the shade. By about 7:00 PM (or 8:00 on particularly exciting evenings) he would retire to his recliner to watch a good western movie, hockey or curling game. One of Harry’s other favourite pass times was cruising the grocery aisles in search of a great deal!
Harry is survived by his daughters: Cheryl (Wayne) Benton, Corrine (Rob) Goble, Shannon Weir, Ginger Steven (Jim Tales), Laura (Pat) Price; grandchildren: Kari Smith, Jared Benton, Taylor Goble, Braden, Addison and Jordan Weir, Ireland, Noah and Sawyer Price; 5 great-grandchildren; his brother Tom (Camie) Steven; and his dear companion, Joyce MacDonald. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Agnes Steven and his nephew Mark Steven.
A celebration of Harry’s life will be held on Thursday, May 24th, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #11. Brent Long of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Harry’s memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #11 Scholarship Fund at 2141 Columbia Avenue, Trail, BC, V1R 1K8.
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
The family of Harry would sincerely like to thank the emergency and ICU staff at the Trail Regional Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion.
Raise your glass to Harry because “It’s happy hour somewhere” and then, “Go to bed”!
