Helen Gard
Helen Rebecca Gard, of Goderich, Ontario passed away peacefully at Huronview on Friday December 21st in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late Don Gard (2006). Dear mother of Nancy (Norman) Pickell of Goderich, Ontario and Stephen (Sharon) Gard of Beaumont, Alberta. Proud grandmother of Bryan (Aynsley) and Colin (Sholeh) Pickell and Shannon Talbot (Chris), Corey (Rachel) and Lyndon Mazuren, Gerrett, Tyler and Bryce Gard. Proud great grandmother of Denver, Saxe, Zephyr and Hugo Pickell, Jackson and Zachary Talbot, Emily Williams, Jaden, Tristan, Levi and Kash Mazuren. Helen will be sadly missed by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Shirley and Bill Bowes and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Helen and Don retired to Goderich in 1982. Helen enjoyed square dancing and travelling, particularly the 2 years that she and Don worked for CUSO in Tanzania. She and Don travelled around the world. Family was very important to Helen. She was always happy when she could chat with her grandchildren on the telephone. She loved playing with her great grandchildren and will be fondly remembered as “GG”. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Lakeshore United Church, Goderich on Saturday January 26 at 12 Noon with visitation from 10:30 AM until 11 :30 AM prior to the service. Donations to Lakeshore United Church Memorial and Bequest Fund or the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
