Helen’s Obituary
Helen (Ploc) Myren was born in Viking, Alberta on May 12, 1932 and passed away on June 10, 2018. We are all devastated by her passing and can only take solace that she is at peace now. Her Granddaughter ,Tertia summed Mom up in a nut shell;
“It’s a blessing to be as strong and brave as Grandma was. Grandma was fiercely independent. If you want something done, you do it yourself. She was one to almost always give her opinion.. She was full of wisdom, coming from the school of hard knocks. As much as Grandma like having beers and “watching the game” whatever the sport might be, she was one of the classiest ladies I will ever have the pleasure to knowing. The number one rule is; take life as it comes, when you fall down, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and keep on going. Anyone that knew Grandma knows she did not have an easy life, but you would never know it. We jokingly called her “Teflon Don”. She took everything life threw at her and carried on. She was strong and the epitome of kindness. She was extremely proud of her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.”
I so wanted her to go to Killam because it would be easier for me and her answer was, I was born and lived in Viking all my life and I want to die here and she did.
Thank you to all the people at Vialta Lodge, Viking Health Centre, and Extendicare for the loving care you gave my Mother. Words can’t express our gratitude to you all.
I also want to thank my kids, my cousins Linda and Theresa who sat countless hours with me when my Mother was passing. Words cannot say what that meant. To all my family that helped, Thank You. I could not have done this without your help.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, brothers; Albert, Frank, Joseph, Vincent, Lad, George and Karl. Companion, Lloyd Roth, Daughter, Kim in 1960, Son, Grant in 1987 and son in law, Keith in 2010.
