Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 30th, 2018, at the age of 71 after a battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was predeceased by his parents, Lester and Ruby Hawkes of Moncton, New Brunswick and by his sister, Judy Therrien of Saint John, New Brunswick. He leaves behind his much loved wife and best friend, Virginnia Hawkes (née Norris). He will be sadly missed by his son Stephen Hawkes of London, his daughter-in-law Janice Merkley and his grandchildren Jordan Hawkes (Cassie) of Thedford, Brandon Hawkes of Parkhill, and Taylor Hawkes and Ethan Hawkes of London. Also survived by his son Paul Hawkes Jr. (Charmaine) and his granddaughter Ava Hawkes of London. He will be fondly remembered by his extended family, friends and his fishing buddy and close friend Jim Highland (Marlene) in Florida. Virginnia wishes to extend her thanks to Dr. Marco Mura, Dr. Michael Tancio and all of the Palliative Care Team, especially Nurses Reeja and Katharina, for their kind and compassionate care in our home. Paul truly appreciated everything you did for him. A Celebration of Life gathering for friends and family will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Sunday, June 3rd, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Cremation and interment at Woodland Cemetery has taken place. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Paul are asked to consider The Lung Association.
