HARMEL Irma October 5 1931 — October 24 2018

HARMEL, Irma
October 5, 1931 — October 24, 2018
Irma passed away peacefully early October 24, 2018. She was 87 years old. Irma is survived by her three children: Ron (Amy), Karin (Rob) Birrell, Sandra Harmel Kahn, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Born to Paul and Lydia Kautz in Zgorze, Poland, October 5, 1931; Irma immigrated to Oyama, BC in 1956 where she married Julius Harmel. Together they built a home and orchard above Kalamalka Lake. They enjoyed picking and selling fruit to many customers who became long-time friends. Together they had many trips to Mexico and Reno for their winter vacations.
Julius passed away in 1984. Oma then became an avid cruiser on Holland America with her lady friends only interrupted by crib tournaments at the Oyama Legion. Irma will always be remembered for her exceptional cooking and baking skills enjoyed by many.
She is further survived by her sisters Edith of Winfield, BC, Anna of Germany and Elfreda of Lavington, BC. She was predeceased by her brother, Julius of Germany in 2014.
