Greg Colbeck
COLBECK, Greg –
Suddenly at Joseph Brant Hospital, with Sue by his side, passed away on December 17, 2018. He was the proud and loving father of Richard Hughes (Alison), Colleen Colbeck and Papa to Imogen Hughes, and will also be missed by Brian O’Neill (Ginny) and Sean O’Neill. The most important things in Greg’s life were family, his motorcycle, and work. Greg was a Ships Officer with The Canadian Coast Guard (Chief Engineer) for 40 years, he will also be missed by his brother officers and crew. Greg was a mentor to new officers with his wealth of experience, he had a gentle manner and was a good teacher. As a long-standing Union Rep for the Merchant Service Guild, Greg attended many rounds of negotiations and he was known for getting things done with a fair approach. He was excited to receive the position of Guild Vice President for Central and Arctic Region. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333 on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Greg’s Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
