Glenn William Richards
August 6, 1928 – May 23, 2018
Passed peacefully at McCarthy Place surrounded by family in his 90th year.
Glenn was loving husband and best friend of Marilynne. Also survived by son William (Pat) and daughters Carol Schmidt (Brian), Elizabeth McNall (Bruce) and Caroline Graham (Chris). Sisters-in-law Janice Brown, Patricia Albu and Ruth Hartleib and a cousin Barbara Bain. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by parents William and Dorothy Richards, brother George Richards, mother and father-in-law Helen and Jack Tylee, sisters-in-law Linda Tylee, Ruth Richards, brothers-in-law William Tylee, John White and Arthur Albu and also Jacqueline Richards, mother of William, Carol and Elizabeth.
Glenn worked at the CNR shops in Stratford where he apprenticed as a pipe fitter and then FRAM Canada as Maintenance Manager. He later worked at St. Marys Hospital, Kitchener followed by Hotel Dieu Hospital, St. Catharines as Manager of Plant and Maintenance.
Glenn was a member of the Canadian National Recreation Association’s male choir under Harold Thomas and Paddy Polley. He also performed in the choir during Richard the Third, the first Stratford Shakespearean Festival play held in the tent in 1953.
Glenn enjoyed time serving as a Lieutenant in the Stratford Sea Cadets Corp. He enjoyed life at the cottage on Chesley Lake, snow-birding in Englewood, Florida, sailing on Lake Huron and Lake Ontario and model railroading. Glenn created his family tree on My Heritage. In the later years, Glenn enjoyed travelling the world on cruise ships.
