Glenda Elaine Laird (Dillabough)
Glenda Elaine Laird (Dillabough) passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Kemptville District hospital on May 17th, 2018. Glenda was born in Mountain, Ontario February 24th, 1940 to the late Ralph and Gladys (Humphrey) Dillabough. Loving mother of Steve (Stephanie), Geff (Julie) and Gene (Sheila). Cherished grandmother of Jessica (Cam), Kurtis (Amy), Alyson, Kaitlyn and Adam (Melanie) and great grandmother of Alexandre Summers, Lennon Flynn and Alyssa Summers. Missed by John Laird, Connor, Courtney and Merle Laird (Gilmer). Dear sister of Trevor, Dalton, Lorraine (Russ), Dorla (Murray), Olin (Sandra), and Judie. Predeceased by her husband James Laird and siblings Norma, Lorne and Douglas, brother-in-law Irvin Hart and sister-in-laws Dorothea Dillabough and Dorothy Dillabough.
Glenda worked for RCA Victor in Prescott ON for many years before moving to Maitland with husband Jim Laird. After Jim’s passing, Glenda made her home in Spencerville ON at the Maples in 1994. She made many friends in Spencerville and enjoyed time with them at social outings, playing cards and board games. She became an avid volunteer with the Spencerville Agricultural Society, The Spencerville Diners Club and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. In her spare time she loved to needle point and made many beautiful creations for her family and friends. She enjoyed her time with her sisters traveling to yards sales in search of a bargain. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life and she unselfishly gave her time and love to them. Glenda will be remembered for her warm laughter and her caring, kind and loving personality.
Friends and Family are invited to visit the Kemptville Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 805 Prescott Street, Kemptville on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 5pm to 8 pm. A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, May 24th at 11 am. Interment at South Gower Cemetery with a reception to follow at Heckston United Church. Donations would be gratefully acknowledged to the Kemptville District Hospital Foundation.
