Gladys Winnifred Ough
1920-2018
It is with sad hearts that the family of Gladys Winnifred
(Dwyer) Ough, wife of the late Bernie Ough Sr, announces her passing,
which occurred on Friday, December 7, 2018 at the Saint John Regional
Hospital. Born January 7, 1920 she was a daughter of the late George
and Mary (Follett) Dwyer.
Gladys was a lifelong member of All Saints Anglican Church
where she had been Envelope Secretary and volunteered her
time.
She had worked in the retail industry at different stores,
including MRA’S, Emmerson Wheaton, Ogden’s, and
D’Alliards.
She enjoyed her card group that met every week, crafts, and
being with her family. She was also a member of the Senior’s
Group, Pythian Sisters, and volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the
Empty Stocking Fund.
She is survived by her children: Donna Spragg (Ronald), Wayne
Ough (Jane), Heather Hilburn (John), Bernie Ough (Linda), Dwight Ough
(Leona), Stephen Ough (Brenda) and Meredith Henderson; thirteen
grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved
dearly; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents
she was predeceased by her two sisters, Lillian Liddy and Emily
Hetherington and her brother, William Dwyer.
Thank you to the staff at Shannex, Quispamsis, her angel
caregivers, Shelly O’Donnell and Evelyn, the staff of 3C
South at the Saint John Regional Hospital, and Dr. Michael
Simon.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row,
Saint John, NB (506-634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, December 12,
2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated on
Thursday, December 13, 2018 from All Saints Anglican Church, Park
Avenue, Saint John at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place in Fernhill
Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to All Saints Anglican
Church, Park Avenue, The Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the
donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Online
