MONACO, GINO
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gino Monaco on Thursday May 31, 2018 at the age of 93. Beloved husband of Ersilia (Spagnoli) for 59 years. Loving father and father-in-law to Joseph and Colleen Gibb. Cherished nonno to Madeline and Brittany Monaco.
Gino was born on March 20, 1925 in Pettorano Sul Gizio, Italy.
Gino was one of three children of Giuseppe and Domenica Monaco (Bonitatibus). He immigrated to Canada in 1957 and shortly thereafter married the love of his life, Ersilia. Gino is survived by his brother Antonio and his wife Elia and predeceased by his sister Anne Suffoletta. Gino adored his grandchildren Brittany and Madeline and taught them his love for gardening and all things Italian. Gino also leaves many family and friends in Italy and the United States. The family wishes to thank Drs. Chu and Whitlock and the cardiac team at Hamilton Health Sciences and especially the nurses in 8W,3W and 4W.
Visitation at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E. (near James St.) on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Vigil prayers Sunday at 3 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 165 Prospect St. N. on Monday June 4, 2018 at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington.
