BENNETT, Gerald Lemuel
– Age 89, Canso died peacefully on Saturday, October 13,
2018, in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso surrounded by family. Born
in Hazel Hill, Gerald was a son of the late Lemuel and Rosemond
(Rhynold) Bennett. Gerald was the last surviving member of his
immediate family. As a lifelong resident of Canso, Gerald made his
living from the sea.
Gerald will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Florence
(Snow) and his step-children and grandchildren.
Thanks of gratitude are extended to the doctors and staff of
the Eastern Memorial Hospital and a special thank you to Rhonda
Bennett for her commitment to Gerald’s care.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday in
Canso United Baptist Church, Canso and from where funeral service will
be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. David Wheeler officiating.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Queensport. Memorial donations in
Gerald’s memory can be made to the Eastern Memorial Hospital
or to Canso United Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the care and
direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Words of comfort
