GREEN, Geoffrey William
GREEN, Geoffrey William -Died peacefully at Hastings Manor, Belleville on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. Geoff Green, of Belleville, in his hundredth year. Son of the late Herbert and Edith Green (nee Wells). Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Green (nee Mckenzie) (d. Jan. 2017). Dear father of Susan Green (Kelvin Hodges) of Perth, Peter Green (Elyn Saar – Green) of Lakefield, and Neil Green (Nancy) of Jacksonville, Florida. Proud grandfather of Ross, Hayley, and Adrien. Predeceased by his siblings Roy Green (late Dorothy), and Ross Green (surviving Gloria). Survived by nieces Jennifer and Heather and nephews Geoffrey and Ross. Geoff was born and raised in the Montreal area before he joined the RAF/RCAF in 1939. He served as a Pilot Officer and Navigator until 1946, earning Atlantic Stars, Aircrew Europe Star, Operational Wings amongst others. Upon his return, he completed his Chartered Accountant designation at night school. He married Beth in 1949. After working for Brooke Bond/RedRose Tea he joined Hawker Siddeley in the CanCar division as a Comptroller, necessitating moves for the family to Fort William (Thunder Bay), Beaconsfield and Mississauga. After moving to Belleville in 1971, he worked for Glen Miller Pulp and Paper, later working as a Chartered Accountant well into his seventies. He was recognized for his volunteer activities with organizations including the United Way and Loyalist College Accounting Advisory Committee, and was President and Treasurer of the Bay of Quinte Country Club. Geoff was an avid golfer and skier who continued these interests into his mid- nineties. He was a proud member of the FOF (Fit Old Fools/Friends) and the ROMEO’s (Really Old Men Eating Out). He also loved gardening and traveled extensively with Beth. Thanks to Cedar Villa staff, especially for their palliative care. Resting at the BURKE FUNERAL HOME (613-968-6968), 150 Church Street, Belleville, on Monday, December 10, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment at Belleville Cemetery Niche Wall.
