Garth W. Smith
1950 – 2018
Garth William Smith, husband of Penny Smith formerly of Hill St., Miramichi passed away at the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home, on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the age of 68.
Born in Rexton, NB on May 12, 1950, he was the son of the late Lloyd G. and Alice E. (Graham) Smith. He was Power Engineer by trade and was employed with Nunavut Power Corp. as Operation Superintendent. He was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church and Elks Lodge #570 and Rotary International.
He is survived by his wife Penny (Johnston) Smith; one son, Derek Smith of Iqaluit, Nunavut; two daughters, Lisa MacDonald (Lloyd) of Iqaluit, Nunavut and Nicole Smith (Cainan Murdock) of Fort St. John, BC; one grandson, Alex MacDonald of Iqaluit, Nunavut; sister-in-law Donna Smith; nephew Scott Smith (Paulette); niece Shawna Goguen (Jr.); great nieces Madison and Darcie; as well as a special friend Shadow. Predeceased by his parents and brother Lloyd E. Smith.
Visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church, Miramichi on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 2 pm with Rev. Ross Wiseman officiating. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery, later in the spring.
