Born in Canning NS, Dad grew up in Edmonton. In his 20’s he was a top sales man for VW, then found the beauty of the outdoors where he worked for the pulp mill in Hinton. In the 80’s he got the entrepreneur bug opening his business Big “M” Services in Edson. When he retired he continued his love for golf and served as the Alberta Golf Commissioner. You could find him on the course right up until he was 88 where he could give you a run for your money as he drove straight down the fairway.
Dad loved game shows and Rockford Files. Dad had a passion for music which was equally shared with his children as members of the family band the “Meeks Mustangs”. Many cabarets floors were full of dancers to the sounds of country music. Dad’s signature song the Auctioneer was always a hit and his final song of the evening being “Good Night Irene”. As this is Dad’s final curtain call we say “Good Night Dear Dean”
As per Dad’s wishes there will be no funeral and the family will gather together for a final farewell. In lieu of flowers Dad has asked you make a donation to a charity of your choice.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Galer Dean Meek 2018.source
