Born to Gordon and Nellie Smith in Calgary, Alberta January 16, 1926, Jean passed away quietly at Moog and Friends Hospice in Penticton on November 8, 2018.
Jean was predeceased by her first husband, Harold Sproson, second husband Joe Jordan, son Gordon and brothers Vernon and David. She is survived by her sisters Patricia and Maureen, sons Trevor (Kasandra) and Michael (Leslie), daughters Sharon (Seamus) and Jeanette, step daughters Patricia and Sandra, grandchildren Christopher, Adam, Wendy, Nicole, Jeffrey, Samantha, Gordon, Matthew, and Cindy.
Leaving school at Grade 8, Jean helped to support the family during the Depression years. During WW II she worked in Vancouver Shipyards and Boeing Aircraft. Jean married Harold, an army sergeant. They raised their five children, travelling throughout BC where Harold worked on construction sites. As a working mother, Jean worked at a glazing factory, was a waitress and telephone operator then in later years managing Food Services at Hudson’s Bay.
Jean married Joe Jordan in 1988. Together they built their home in Okanagan Falls where they both enjoyed their close proximity to nature. Jean remained independently in her home until she was 91.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the new year.
