Obituary of Frances Hughes
Margaret “Frances” Hughes, age 90, of Westville, passed away December 13, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow surrounded by her family.
Born May 9, 1928 in Thorburn, she was the eldest daughter of the late Daniel and Julia (Marshall) Dwyer.
Frances taught school in Green’s Brook, Greenwood and Glencoe and was employed at Michelin until her retirement.
She is survived by daughter Julia, Stellarton ; son Philip (Sandra), Churchville; Edward (Carmen), Hamilton, Ont.; Darryl (Cindy), Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Kevin, Julie Ann, Gary, Edward, Michael, David, Joey, Marsha, Geoffrey, Steven, and Matthew; 12 great grandchildren, and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; sister Donna Odo, Toronto; son-in-law Gary Smeltzer, Union Centre and daughter in law Betty Hughes, Trenton.
She was predeceased by her husband Edward “Ned” Hughes; daughter Deanna Smeltzer; and sons David and Gary.
Frances is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Her funeral service will be held Monday at 2 o’clock from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Rev. Donna Tourner officiating. Burial will be in Thorburn Cemetery.
