  1. I am heartbroken to hear of Franc’s passing. He and I met when we both worked at the Harbour House restaurant back when we were 18 years old. Franc had so many wonderful qualities – being a loving and dedicated father was top of the list. Although I haven’t seen him for a few years, I will always remember his impish sense of humour, fun-loving but competitive nature, perfectionism, strong work ethic, and friendship. I offer my sincerest condolences to Rosanna, Alex and Nic. Franc was a unique individual and loved by many.

  2. My deepest sympathies go out to the whole Petan family. I met Nik a few times and it was obvious how well raised he was and how much he admired his parents.

  3. The news of Frank’s sudden departure to the afterlife shocked us both; Carmen and me. The space we were in at that moment yesterday became smaller, and the background noise dissipated almost instantly. A wave of many tender memories about the connection of our two families have invaded our minds and soles with intensity….Rosanna, Franc, Nic, Alex, Michael, Carmen and I. Wow! The beauty and effervescence of our lives together. Our families were more complete then than today unfortunately. It’s painful! Our experiences together added a fine brotherly to the fabric of our beings and lives. We are very thankful for it. Just having the opportunity to touch each other lives, once in the while, means a lot. Contextually, we hope that our words will find solace to your pain and derailment from the life’s norm and ordinary…if something like this actually exists. The abyss Franc has left behind will never be filled-up. Perhaps, it will deepen as the clock ticks away. We know that!
Please note though, that embracing Franc’s memory and building on it, is the absolute right thing to do for all people how had known him.

For Nic and Alex; please allow me say that his fatherhood’s love for you two will input into becoming the men he wanted you be.

-The look through the window is lingering along the shape of the waves,
-They are searching for something. Where do they usually go?
-Just pause for a second and listen to them,
-These are your thoughts on the curvature of time trying to answer the question of Why?

    Rosanna, Nic and Alex,
The door of our house in Nanaimo remains open for you. If you every feel the need to “pause” for a moment or two, please come over. You will feel the warmth and honesty of our hearts.

    With love Emil and Carmen

  4. Our thoughts are with the Petan family at this time. We were shocked and saddened to learn of Franc’s passing. We have fond memories of hockey dinners at La Notte among many other events that brought our families together. Roseanna, Alex and Nic you are in our hearts. Hugs from Kim, Ken and Ryan Biehl.

  5. My sincere condolences to the Petan Family. May the memories of your loved one give you the strength you need to carry on. RIP Franc.

  6. We were so deeply saddened to hear the news of the sudden passing of Franc. While we have not seen Franc for several years, we have many fond memories of Franc from our younger years…Wonderful Dinners at La Notte, Halloween Celebrations, Weddings, NY Eve Celebrations at Whistler, various Parties and of recent date…a wonderful memory stands out at Family Day in Feb 2013 watching Nic play hockey. Franc always had that mischievous twinkle in his eyes, a welcoming smile, a great sense of humor and was a very proud family man and loved his sons and family dearly!

Keep those wonderful memories close to your hearts and may the strong Love and Support of Family and Friends give you the strength & courage to get thru this very difficult family time.

Our deepest condolences with LOVE & HUGS to Nic & Alex & Rosanna Petan and Family.

God Bless & may you rest in peace Franc Petan.
John & Jana Carreira and Family
