Obituary of Floyd Smelser
SMELSER, Floyd Wilfred.
Passed away, with his family by his side, on December 26, 2018 in his 94th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Rosey (Byng). Survived by his children Charles (Donna), Brian (Deborah) and Pamela Carom (the late George). Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Kimberley (Brandon), Charlene (Tom), Amanda (Buddy), Chad (Cynthia), Tyson (Brandi-Jo) and his great grandchildren Mason, Nickolas, Logan, Breanna, Wyatt, Summer, Michael, Bailey, Lea, Taylor, Kaleb, Jessica, Trevor and Jennifer. Predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Eletha, his sister Blanche (the late Delmer) Schweyer and his dear friend Vera. Floyd was a veteran of WWII, having served with RCAF from 1943-45. He was very active in the community. He was a life member of Optimist Club of Dunnville for over 30 years both at the local and district level where he served as president and ambassador to the governor. He was a Charter member of #6 RCAF Dunnville Museum, a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #132 Dunnville and St. Paul’s Anglican Church. Friends are invited to call at BALLARD MINOR FUNERAL HOME, 315 Broad Street East, Dunnville onSunday, December 30 from 2-5 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 233 Lock Street West, Dunnville on Monday, December 31, 2019 at 11 a.m. A Legion Service under the auspices of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #142 will be held on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. If desired, donations to the Optimist Club, Dunnville Legion, RCAF #6 Museum or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
