Obituary for Evelyn “Lyn” James
James, Dr. Evelyn Mary (“Lyn”)
After a very long illness, Lyn James passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 11, 2018 in Guelph, Ontario, surrounded by her loving family. A living saint and an angel, Lyn was the dearly loved companion of Bill for 55 years, devoted mother of Rob and his wife Lindsay Kolbuc and of Iain and his wife Sue Phipps, and the beloved Nana of Xanthe, Cole, Fiona and Jenna. She was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and attended St Margaret’s School and Aberdeen University. Lyn is survived by her brother in Cyprus, Ian Stephen, and his wife Muna, and is sorely missed by relatives and friends in Scotland, South Africa, Canada, USA and elsewhere. Lyn will always be special, remembered for her love of people, her kindness, positivity, sense of humour and cheerfulness, and for her amazing gifts, and knowledge of and skill in needlework, embroidery, lace-making, English lit, philosophy, wildflowers, birds and mountain hiking.
Lyn’s life will be celebrated at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 1-4 p.m., beginning with eulogies in the chapel at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends in the reception rooms afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind would be appreciated. Donation cards are available at the funeral home, (519-821-5077), or online condolences and donations may be left at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com
