Ethel’s love of sewing began at childhood and continued until her passing. Starting with the first apron, to the many matching outfits for the children, the grad/ bridesmaid dresses she sewed, along with the upholstery classes she taught turned into the successful Ethel Howie Upholstery and Drapery business she owned and operated for years. Ethel loved the outdoors, whether she was teaching her kids to swim in the Pembina River, skiing in Jasper, camping with friends and family or curling with the ladies in Westlock or Linaria. You would often see Ethel walking on the road to get her fresh air and exercise. She spent many hours volunteering in the 4-H Clubs (sewing, beef and small engines). She was on the Westlock Ag Board and Home Economic Board and was an avid member of the Royal Purple in Slave Lake for 16 years. Donations will be greatly accepted to the Royal Purple in Ethel’s memory at Box 1614 Slave Lake, AB T0G 2A0
