1936-2018
With great sadness, the family of Ernest James Dewar, age 80,
of Marshy Hope announces that he passed away peacefully at St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital on September 25, 2018 with family
by his side.
Ernie was the son of the late Chester and Mary (Foote) Dewar
of Marshy Hope.
Ernie drove a school bus in Pictou County for over 30
years.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Mary Jane
(Fraser); daughters, Susan McCarthy (Leonard March) of Evanston, NS
and Patricia Dewar of Sackville, NB; and siblings, Kaye (the late
Huntley) MacDonald of James River, Margaret (Jim) Bowie of Spryfield,
and Bill (Sheila) Dewar of Herring Cove; sisters-in-law, Mildred Dewar
of Marshy Hope, Sylvia Dewar of Truro, and Marion Dewar of
Ohio. Many nieces, nephews and close extended family and
friends also mourn his loss.
Besides his parents, Ernie was predeceased by son-in-law, Tim
McCarthy, parents-in-law, William and Jean Fraser, siblings, Gladys,
Edgar (Marjorie), Helen (Alex), Robert, George, Christene (Hugh), and
Roy.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Sunday at CL Curry
Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish. A Presbyterian
funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday at St.
Joseph’s Church, St Joseph’s, Antigonish
County,with Greg Dickson presiding. Burial to follow in the
parish cemetery.
Due to allergies, the family requests family flowers only
please. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St.
Joseph’s Cemetery or St. Martha’s Regional
Hospital Foundation (Palliative Care Unit).
