t is with great sadness to announce the untimely passing of our loving Mother on March 19, 2018 in Huntingdon. Mom will be lovingly missed and mourned by her children Patsy(Neil), Robert, Katherine(Gavin), Tim(Genevieve), Michael(Heather) and Sean(Sue) Hersey as well as her grandchildren who were her absolute pride and joy, Andrew, Meghan, Jamie, David, William, Carolyn, Adrien, Kayleigh, Ronan, Cale, Tamzin, Riley and great grandchildren Caleb, Cole, Sam, Gabriel, Mike, Emmett and Lily also her sister Patricia Murphy, extended family and friends who she met daily. Betty was the daughter of the late John Murphy and Claire Massam, born on the Murphy family farm in St. Agnes de Dundee, Qc on September 26, 1936 , she was predeceased by her son James (little Jimmy) as well as her brother the Reverend James Murphy, and her sisters, Sr. Ann Murphy SNJM and Sr. Carolyn Murphy SNJM. After retiring from teaching hundreds of children at St. Joseph school Mom spent many quiet days with friends and family, listening to her favourite music and going to activities at the legion, spending time with friends at Miss Huntingdon and attending church on Sundays. She was a founding member of CWL Huntingdon and Legion member, Branch 81. Family will receive condolences at St. Joseph Church, Huntingdon on Friday April 6, 2018 from 10 am followed by the Funeral service at 11 am. Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery in the spring.
