Collins, Elizabeth Eugenia (nee. Dwyhajlo) – Liz passed peacefully at the NBRHC on January 5th, 2018, in her 72nd year.
Dear wife of Leslie R. Collins loving mother of Jonathon of North Bay, Matthew of Sturgeon Falls, and Patrick (Nicole) of Saint John, NB. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Myles, Alexandre, and Jacob. Predeceased by her parents John and Sophie (Burych) Dwyhajlo of Montreal, QC. Survived by her sister Mary and her brother Paul.
She was a strong supporter of her Ukrainian heritage being an active member of the North Bay Ukrainian club. She educated many children to learn about the Ukrainian language, dance, and traditions. Liz was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL), and was presented with the Bellelle Guerin Maple Leaf service pin in 2012. Liz was also an executive member of the East Ferris Golden Age Club. She enjoyed playing cards, especially ‘hand-and-foot’. She was a committed member of Dr. Andrews’ Tuesday morning North Bay and District Cardiac Fitness Club.
A funeral mass will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic church (895 Memorial Drive) on Saturday January 13th at 1pm. A reception will follow in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice can be made through Hillside Funeral Services, www.hillsidefuneral.ca.
