Eldon Wesley Jantz 1935 2018

Obituary of Eldon Jantz
My beloved Husband, our Dad and Grandpa, Eldon Wesley Jantz was born on November 21, 1935, to Tobias and Marie Toews Jantz on the family farm at Linden, AB. After being diagnosed with heart failure and lymphoma earlier this year he peacefully left us on June 14, 2018, with loved ones around him, reaching the age of 82 years. The day before he told Mom, I’m going home tomorrow. When Mom asked him if he meant to heaven, he said Yes.
Dad grew up on the family farm with his three younger sisters. He attended the Buckeye school which was a mile walk from their home. He gave his heart to the Lord when he was young and was baptized November 10, 1949, by minister Gehard de Veer, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.
Dad married Lillian Elizabeth (Betty) Wiebe on July 25, 1965, at Linden, AB enjoying 52 years together. They were blessed with four sons and one daughter. His sons all moved away and he enjoyed visiting them and spending time with his grandchildren. He farmed together with his Dad and then took over the family farm and remained there until the last weeks before his passing. Dad was a mechanic at heart. He worked at Valley Service for a number of years and also had an engine rebuilding business with his son Glen. He spent much time in his shop on the farm doing mechanic work for others right up until the time of his illness. He loved to tinker and fixed many things for his family and friends! His sons will miss being able to call him to ask how to fix things. He loved to garden. One highlight in their lives was when Dad and Mom were house parents for two summers at the Hague, SK, Summer Vacation Bible School. They enjoyed traveling in the later years and especially enjoyed a trip to Alaska, making good friends.
Dad was a quiet man but we all knew he loved God and the Church was precious to him. He gave much time to different committees. Many prayers were prayed for his family and he longed to meet in heaven. We also enjoyed his quiet sense of humor right to the end. He spent his last 5 weeks in Palliative Care at Westview Care Community. We as family appreciate very much the kind and loving care he received. Crystal also spent a lot of time with Mom and Dad these last weeks which was really appreciated by those of us who could not always be there.
Those left behind are his loving wife Betty, Verlin and Candis, McLeese Lake, BC; Glen and Carmen, Leoville, SK; Robert and Shirley, Quesnel, BC; Crystal Jantz and Kevin Swain, Acme, AB; Ken and Tracy, Leoville, SK; 15 grandchildren and special niece Max and Ben Schartner. Also remaining are two sisters Joyce Evans, Linden, AB, Mildred and Jerry Penner, Swalwell, AB; brother-in-law Ted Wacker, Lethbridge, AB; brother-in-law Claude and Mildred Wiebe, Linden, AB; sisters-in-law Anne Wiebe, Linden, AB; Charlotte and Joe Toews, Ridgevalley, AB; Bertha Wiebe, Linden, AB and many nieces and nephews.
