Obituary of Duncan Jeens
Jeens, Michael Duncan – In the early hours of March 26, 2018, Duncan Jeens boarded a train to his eternal reward. He will forever by remembered for all his good work in the community. Duncan was an active member of Ridgetown Church of the Advent, President of the Church Men’s Club, a member of the Ridgetown Senior’s Centre Choir and an active Rotarian. Duncan was also a long serving Captain on the Georgian Bay Fire Department. Most prominently Duncan will be remembered for his love of trains. He was a founding member of the Midland and District Model Train Club was well as both the London and Ridgetown Clubs.
Duncan was a loving husband to his wife Betty (nee White). A wonderful father to Rob and wife Kyung-Ae of South Korea, Diane Lamoureux of Port Severn, Becky and husband Jeff Lupish of Prince Edward Island, and Kathy and husband Ray Wells of Rockwood. Loved Grandpa of Alexis, Evan, London, Janie, Emily and Terry will always hold him close to their hearts. Brother of Roger and wife Lorraine Jeens of Campbellville, and Nevil and wife Gretchen of Markham remain as steadfast examples of the charm, wit and warmth of the Jeens family.
Brother-in-law to Chris and husband John Jones of Chatham, late Allen and surviving wife Doreen White of Dutton, Jerry and wife Pat White of Toronto, Ted and wife Karen White of Orangeville, and Jean and husband Mike Landry of Chatham.
Will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Duncan and Betty owned and operated a general store in Port Severn for 16 years.
Visitation will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main St. East., Ridgetown on Thursday March 29, 2018 from 6-9pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the Church of the Advent, Ridgetown on Friday March 30, at 2pm. Cremation to follow.
Donations in memory of Duncan may be made the Church of the Advent or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Online condolences may be left at www.mckinlayfuneralhome.com.
He will be dearly missed by those of us left on the platform, including his large loving group of extended family and friends.
