Doris Mary Bishop
1934-2018
Doris Mary Bishop – 84, of New Minas,
Kings County, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 24, 2018 in
the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Lower Cove,
Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Sherman and Sarah
(Cormier) Glenn. As a young woman, Doris graduated as a Certified
Nursing Assistant in Moncton in 1955. She enjoyed working at the
former Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital and the Valley Regional
Hospital, both in Kentville, for 39 years. She was a loving wife,
mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and mother-in-law who also
loved to make clothing for her family, bake, cook, tell funny stories
and go camping. She is survived by three
daughters, Wanda (Chuck) Calder, Port Williams; Jeanette (Ken) Baker,
Paradise, Newfoundland; Marlene (Gary) Maddison, New Minas; five
grandchildren, Matthew (Ashlie) Maddison, Leduc, Alberta; Brennan
Maddison (Ashley), St. Albert, Alberta; Andrew Calder (Jackie),
Alberta and Port Williams; Sarah Calder (Robin), New Zealand and Colin
Baker, Paradise, Newfoundland; a sister, Joyce (Edward) Ward,
Cambridge, Kings County; three brothers, Reginald, Lower Cove; Lester
(Judy), Peabody, Massachusetts; Roger (Donna), Lower Cove; several
nieces and nephews. She was predeceased
by her husband of 49 years, Earle; a sister, Jeanette (in infancy); a
sister-in-law, Annie Glenn. There will be no visitation, by request.
The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 1:00
p.m. Friday, November 30, 2018 in the White Family Funeral Home,
Kentville. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam
Mill. Family flowers only, by request.
Donations in memory may be made to the
Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Valley Hospice Foundation or the
