DORIS EILEEN(BIRDSALL) OATMAN (1918 – 2018)
Peacefully, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Friday, November 9, 2018, Doris Eileen (Birdsall) Oatman of Tillsonburg passed away just days from her 100th birthday. Beloved wife of the Late Oliver Oatman (1973). Proud and loving mother of James Oatman (Anna) of Arizona, Charles Oatman (Teri) of Rockwood, David Oatman (Reg) of Tillsonburg and Jean Marie Oatman (Doug Kent) of Tillsonburg. Cherished grandmother of Oliver, Gwen, Becky, Chris, Aaron, Brian, Madison, David and Stephanie as well as 4 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Eva (Swinn) Birdsall, two sisters Freda Graves, Jean Harvey and in-laws Leon and Beatrice Oatman and Alex and Retha Bolton.
Doris attended Tillsonburg High School, Universtiy of Western Ontario, and taught Secondary School in Beamsville, Hamilton and Tillsonburg. Following her retirement in 1978 she worked on many research projects on family and local history, completing many family histories, and a History of Middleton Township.
A Celebration of Life for Doris will be held at the Tillsonburg Soccer Club, 275 Quarter Town Line, Tillsonburg on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Memorial donations to the C.N.I.B. may be made by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
