Lovingly Remembered
Donna Marie LaFoy of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully with her family present on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Southwood Hospice after a courageous lengthy battle with cancer at 66 years of age.
Donna was born in Oyen, AB, the fourth child of Peter & Ona Finstad. Her childhood years had moves from Oyen to Acme, Calgary & Ponoka with a short time in Kitimat, BC. In Ponoka is where she met her life partner David and eventually married on May 6, 1972. Her working career was always centered around caring for others. She started out as LPN and worked in hospitals in Ponoka, Edmonton, St. Albert, Red Deer and Medicine Hat, AB as David’s career with BMO moved them around the province. After the family moved to Calgary in 1984, Donna took a job with Cardinal Coach Lines driving school bus for young children. This lasted for several years until an accident curtailed commercial driving. In September 2001, she started her career with We Care, providing in-home personal and medical care for seniors. Her special joys in her life were her two children, Scott Allen born in 1981 and Danielle Rose, born in 1985.
Donna is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, David, her two children, Scott (Colleen) and Danielle (Joseph). She also leaves behind her siblings, Val Hume (Ron – deceased) of Calgary, Judith Isaac-Finstad (William) of Abbotsford, BC, Glen Finstad (June) of Leduc, AB, Peter Finstad (Janet) and Laura Neigel of St. Albert, AB, numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter in 2009 and Ona in 2013.
A Memorial Service will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home, (Prairie View Chapel, 1605 – 100 Street SE, Calgary) on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre.
