In Loving Memory
It is with great sadness that the family of Deborah (Debbie) Anne Hicks age 65 of River Hebert announce her passing on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Springhill All Saints Hospital, Springhill NS.
Born in River Hebert March 21, 1952, she was the daughter of Vera Witsel (Burbine), and her step father, the late Arthur Witsel.
Besides her stepfather, Debbie was pre deceased by grandparents Phoebe and Harvey Burbine, former partner Frank Mitchell, brother, Joseph in infancy, as well as several aunts and uncles.
Debbie will be lovingly remembered by her mother Vera Witsel, former husband Wayne Hicks of Maccan, daughter Tanya Hicks (John), son Craig Hicks (Tammy), both of River Hebert, brothers Curtis Witsel (Susan) , Anthony (Tony) Witsel (Valerie), Ronnie Witsel (Tracey) all of Alberta, and Chris Witsel (Gina) of Halifax, NS, sisters Cathy Brine (Ed), Jeannie Witsel (Alan), both of Alberta, grandchildren Austin Hicks (Robyn), Brandon Hicks, Destiny Hicks, Tamara McKinnon, God child, Dawn (Hoeg) Burbine, cherished niece Shoana, her fun loving felines, Tiny and Cocoa, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Debbie worked for many years as a key holder at Dollarama, where she loved interacting with and helping her wonderful customers. Debbie had many interests which included expressing her creativity through crafts, word searches, coloring, baking, cooking, gardening, many outdoors activities, and caring for her beloved family.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Gradstein and Dr. Short, as well as all of the nurses and staff who took such wonderful care of Debbie in her time of need.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst, NS, (902-667-9906). A celebration of life will take place Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 1-3 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 14, River Hebert.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cumberland Hospice and Palliative Care Society, or charity of your choice.
