Obituary for Dawn Young
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother and grandmother. Through this time of mourning we celebrate a life well lived.
Mom’s early years were spent in Chaplin, Saskatchewan, building deep and lasting friendships that would last a lifetime. This connection to community, friends and family grew as she married John Young on October 4th, 1972 and settled in Shamrock. Mom lived a full life on the farm, nurturing everyone and everything she surrounded.
Mom was an avid gardener, and loved spending time tending to her beautiful yard, flowers and plants. She spent hours teaching the next generation the tricks of the trade. When not in the garden, you would often find mom in the kitchen trying out a new recipe. She was famous for a few dishes, most notably her famous chocolate cake and homemade ‘grandma buns’.
Mom and Dad spent many years travelling the world, trips to Hawaii, Cuba, Costa Rica and Alaska marking a few of the adventurers along the way. Mom was always open for a new experience and could be found jet skiing, ziplining among the trees or salmon fishing while on vacation, which always made for a good story on her return.
Mom was the definition of ‘clean living’ which made the diagnosis of Cancer particularly hard to comprehend. She met this challenge with a deep internal strength and abundance of courage, setting an example for all of us to follow.
Mom we will miss you and will treasure all the lessons along the way.
Dawn is remembered by, her husband John Young, mother Veronica Moore, children Mike Krause (Shannon), Chad Young (Roxane), Shauna Young (Jason Desnoyer), Tasha Florek (Matthew), Craig Young (Rheanna), grandchildren Justin, Jordon, Destiney, Megan, Matteo, Rylan, Kendal and Presley and great grandchild Lilly.
