Darla Kinaschuk
With heavy hearts, Darla’s family announces her passing on October 8th at St Paul’s Hospital at the age of 71 years. She is the beloved wife of Harold Kinaschuk of Vanscoy. She will also be lovingly remembered by daughter, Shelley (Aron) Zeffer and grandson Samuel of Cochrane, AB; sons, Kurt (Karen) and grandchildren, Doran and Aleena of Regina; Deon (Shari) and grandchildren, Halle and Easton of Delisle; brothers, Dennis (Donna) Gidluck of Biggar; Gord (Jenny) Gidluck of Vilonia AR, USA; and sister, Cheryl (Ralston) Nickerson of Waterloo, ON. Darla was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Myrtle Gidluck of Biggar, SK; parents-in-law, Andrew and Anne Kinaschuk of Arran, SK. Darla was born in Biggar and attended school there. She attended the University of Saskatchewan where she met Harold. She also obtained her Level 8 Certificate in piano for the Royal Conservatory of Music. Her passion of music led to teaching piano out of her home. Her early employment consisted of working at the Royal Bank of Canada in Saskatoon. Darla was a loving stay-at-home mom to three children for many years. During that time she volunteered with the Girl Guides. When the family settled in Vanscoy, she chose to pursue her interest in hair styling and completed her Cosmetology Diploma from Marvel Beauty School in Saskatoon. Darla’s career as a hair dresser lasted for nearly 30 years at La Petite Coiffures in the Confederation Mall. Darla enjoyed hosting and cooking large family meals for special occasions. She loved sewing, especially he many figure skating and Halloween costumes for her children. She also enjoyed traveling to destinations such as California and Tijuana on their honeymoon, the Mayan Riviera, Cuba, and even family road trips that included Boulder, Colorado, Vancouver Island, Montreal, Niagara Falls and the numerous trips across North America visiting family. In 2017 her travels abroad ended with a bucket list trip to London, England with her husband, Harold to visit her childhood friend Lisa. Darla was also grandma to 5 grandchildren who she loved spending time with. Darla courageously battled Cancer for 6 years while her loving dedicated husband supported and cared for her.
