Van Valkenburg, Craig Marr
Peacefully passed away with his family by his side at Bluewater Health in Sarnia, on Sunday, April 1, 2018, at the age of 81 years. Beloved husband of Anne. Dear father of Glen (Cindy), Stephen (Diep), and Jana (Tim). Loving grandpa of Alex, Brenden “Joey”, Ben (Grace), Josh, and Amy. Predeceased by his parents George & Edith (late stepfather Kirk), and his father in law Chub and his mother in law Doris. Survived by his sister Marilyn (Rene). Also remembered by his nephew Scott, and niece Kara (Brian), and their families.
Craig was the proud owner of Van Valkenburg & Son Jewellers Inc. for over 60 years, and was a Fire Fighter with the Forest Fire Department for 49 years, and served as previous Chief. He served as a member of the Forest Chamber of Commerce and Forest BIA. He was a member and Past President of the Forest Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow, and Past Director of the People’s Telephone Company of Forest, and Past Director and President of the Canadian Jewellery Group. Craig’s passions included his family and friends, and he also enjoyed hydroplane racing and the Sarnia Sting.
Visitation will take place at DENNING’S OF FOREST, 9 James Street South, Forest, on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place in the chapel on Thursday morning, April 5, 2018, at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery. For those who wish, in memoriam donations to the Parkinson Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association, or to St. James Presbyterian Church would be appreciated by the family.
