It is with sad hearts that we, the family of Colleen Barry, age 71, announce her passing on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at home.
Born in North Sydney on April 13, 1947, she was the daughter of the late David and Ada (Haggett) Canavan.
Colleen will be lovingly remembered by her best friend and husband of 52 years, Alex, her children; Dawn (Louis), Doug (Corrina), and David (Nancy), grandchildren; Angie, Shania, Carissa, Paige, and Alicia, and 3 great-grandchildren; Saraya, Lee and Tysen.
Colleen also leaves behind to mourn her sisters Marge (Dan), and Marilyn, brother Ken and brother-in-law Wayne Gracie.
Besides her parents, Colleen was predeceased by her brother Doug, sisters Gloria and Marie, and brothers-in-law Ted Washburn and Gary Dales.
Special thanks to Dr. Poulos and Palliative Care, the nurses and staff at the Northside General Hospital, the Von nurses, and Homecare. In lieu of flowers, donations in Colleen’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke or the Lung Association.
Colleen’s family will receive visitors on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, from 10-11 a.m. in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main St., Sydney Mines. A celebration of her life will take place at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, with Deacon Greg Murphy officiating. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
