David Coates, age 60, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 4, 2018 at GBGH in Midland after a 12 year courageous battle with Sarcoma. He was predeceased by his parents Theodore Wesley and Helen Isabel Istrati. David was the loving husband and best friend of Nancy Anne (McCarthy) for 39 years. Cherished Dad to Michael (Monica) and special Gramps to Owen, Ethan and Brooklyn. David will be deeply missed by his loving sister Susan (Jean-Pierre) Gloutnez and goddaughter Sara-Jane (Brandon) Keith. David will also be lovingly remembered by his birth mother Elli Urquhart, half siblings Randy, Liana and extended family.
David was a long time dedicated employee of Ontario Hydro and OPG and did consulting work for the Ontario Public Sector. He was also a past Kilcoo camper and LCS alumni. He loved his home in the country and all the adventures that came with rural life. Missed by furry friends, especially his golden girl “Miss Sadie” and cats Smudge and Mickey. David was respected for his kindness, loyalty, great integrity and most of all, his sense of humour.
Special thanks to Dr. Michael Jewett, Dr. Rob Hamilton. Dr. Cameron, Dr. Coutts, and the many physicians and staff at UHN, PMH and Mt Sinai, and especially the wonderful, caring and compassionate staff of GBGH.
A Celebration of Life for David will take place at a later date.
