Calvin Rothwell
15 août 1928 –
6 juin 2018
Calvin Rothwell, 89, of Laval, Quebec passed away peacefully on June 6, 2018. Predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years, Lois (Gordon) and survived by his daughters Crystal (Ignazio), Melanie (Graham) and grandchildren Vincenzo, Virginia, Cameron and Connor.
The youngest of eleven children, Calvin was born in Marysville, Saskatchewan on August 15, 1928. Having witnessed the dust bowl of the1930s and ensuing poverty, Calvin was resilient and stubborn throughout his life. From an early age, Calvin developed a strong work ethic through labouring on the family farm, running a restaurant, serving in the RCAF and working for over 30 years at IBM. Of all his chores, he was happiest puttering in his basement workshop.
Calvin led a happy life, was an active member of Northlea United Church, enjoyed the company of many friends and shared a passion for travel and dancing with his wife Lois. Our hearts are broken that we lost our beloved parents this year but we take comfort in knowing they have found each other once again because a love like theirs is eternal.
A celebration of Calvin’s life will take place on June 15, 2018 from 7 to 9PM at the Complex Funéraire Legaré in Laval.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or a charity of your choosing. Ashes to be interred at a private ceremony in Arundel, QC at a future date.
