December 29, 1929 – May 25, 2018
Long time resident of Peace River (AB), formerly of Birch Hills (SK), William Harvey ‘Bud’ Tice passed away at Sutherland Place on May 25, 2018, at 88 years of age.
Bud grew up on the farm in northern Saskatchewan; often, he’d help out his Dad in his spare time (in the Spring & Fall). He was a busy boy as he belonged to the Boy Scouts. He worked for Scott Brothers Garage as a mechanic’s helper. Eventually, Bud farmed himself, drove truck…even driving a team of horses. The friendly, outgoing and social person he was, Bud would find enjoyment in skating at Lake Sturgeon (SK) or go to dances and school functions with school chum Lucille Gordon. Helping in the kitchen at church or at the local Royal Canadian Legion was Bud’s go-to community acts.
A fond memory for Bud was the opening of the MacKenzie Highway in northern Alberta. He, his wife Evelyn and some in-laws took a week long journey of fun in the motorhome toward Hay River (NWT). Family was important for Bud; hence, turkey diner and Chinese food were his favourite meals, as they were always enjoyed in the company of family. He claimed “I have lived a good life” surrounded by family.
Bud is survived by his companion Grace Hutton; children Debbie (Dan) Manson of Big River (SK), Bonnie of Hantsport (NS), JoAnn (Brian) Martin of Eaglesham (AB), Rock (Carmen) of Peace River (AB); 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren & 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister Effie Cook, sisters-in-law Patricia and Lois; brother-in-law Bud and a community of friends.
Bud is pre-deceased by his wife Evelyn (nee Austin) in 2005; parents Mary Jane (nee Newton) and William LT Tice; brothers Robert ‘Bob’ & Phil & sister Faye.
