La célébration de
19 octobre 1930 –

Peacefully, at the age of 88. Son of James and Rose (nee Dully), Brendan left his home in Inchicore, Dublin, Ireland and moved to Canada as a young man of 23 in 1953. He was followed by the love of his life, Margaret and they were married in 1955. Brendan lived with fierce integrity, always defending the vulnerable and trying to make life a little better for everyone. A proud Union Steward in 1005, he studied labour law at McGill, and fought for workers rights for many years. He helped found MHMHL and coached peewee hockey in the 60’s and 70’s. He was a founding member and past president of the Irish Canadian Club, and loved nothing more than welcoming new immigrants from Ireland. A voracious reader, he would often quote classics, recite poetry with gusto and initiate animated debates on politics or history. A dedicated father and grandfather, he taught the value of family and led by example. Never one to shy away from the truth, he could always be counted on for sincere, knowledgeable advice. He was quietly charitable and kind, a bit of a mystic, and tough as nails.
He will be greatly missed. He is predeceased by wife, Margaret (nee O’Connor), sisters May and Rose, and brother Jimmy; and leaves behind sister Betty. Predeceased by best friend and nephew, Noel. He also leaves son, Michael (Danette), daughter, Noreen (Joseph), grandchildren Liam, Jarrett, Sarah and Rory. Also leaves many wonderful nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. A deeply heart felt thank you to Angie and Gladys, his angels. Anne-Marie for her honesty, empathy and guidance, Cami and Sarah, two outstanding nurses among so many caring professionals at the General.
Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home – “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Sunday, November 18 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 50 Brucedale Ave., Hamilton on Monday November 19 at 10 am followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery Ancaster.
Codladh sámh, Dad.
