Obituary of Bonnie Quanbury-Duern
On Wednesday, October 31, 2018, after a long battle with cancer, Bonnie found peace at the age of 66 years.
Recently widowed (Ted, July 4, 2018), Bonnie leaves behind her children Rachel (Kevin) and Eli, siblings Charlie (Ardith) and Nancy (Brian), as well as a community of people she loved.
Raised from humble beginnings by the late Ernest and Dorothy Quanbury, Bonnie graduated from the University of Waterloo, and then Mohawk College, to build a successful career in life sciences. Retiring early, Bonnie settled into “life by the lake” in the town of Ladysmith, Quebec.
When she wasn’t globetrotting, Bonnie enjoyed being an active member of the community, singing with friends in Shawville United Church choir, volunteering her time at Victoria Quilts, Women’s Institute and the Thrift Shop, and sewing and quilting with the people nearest and dearest to her.
There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held in Knox United Church, 25 Gibbard Ave., Nepean, Ontario on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Victoria Quilts or Pontiac Community Hospital Foundation.
On behalf of the family, Rachel and Eli extend their deepest thanks for the love and support the communities of Shawville and Ladysmith have shown over the years. Your warm hearts have made all the difference.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Bonnie
Susanne
