Bill Gillis
1956-2018
William “Bill” Edward Mitchell Gillis. The
family of Bill Gillis regret to announce his passing on 01 April,
2018, at Toronto Western Hospital after a brief illness. Bill was
predeceased by his mother, Adele, father, Dan and sister, Margie. Bill
was born on 23 August, 1956, in New Glasgow, N.S. He attended New
Glasgow public schools and graduated from St. FX in 1979 with a degree
in business. While there, Bill was involved in the student union.
After graduating from St. FX, he worked at various banks throughout
his professional career. Growing up, Bill spent considerable time
playing hockey and softball at the Westside Community Centre. He took
great pleasure in watching the Montreal Canadians and Toronto Blue
Jays. Bill always enjoyed a good laugh and joke, and loved talking to
people. He is survived by his sisters, Kathleen (Les), Raleigh, NC;
Joanie (Cliff), Halifax; Colleen (Bruce), Stillwater Lake; and
brothers, Dan (Sue), Cole Harbour; Dennis, Toronto; and Allan, New
Glasgow; and his adored nephews and nieces: Brendan, Erin, Lauren,
Anna, Caitlin, Colleen, Graeme, Grayson, Maddie, Blayre, Brent, Leah
and Kate. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of
Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home, Toronto and R.H. Porter, New Glasgow.
Funeral mass 11 am Monday, July 9, in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman
Catholic Church. Reception to follow in the Sister Catherine Steele
Centre. Donations in Bill’s memory can be made to the
