Beulah May Colford
Beulah May (Craig), Colford, Halifax, NS., cherished wife of Harry J. Colford and mother of Donald F. Colford passed away at the Halifax Infirmary on May 6th, 2018.
Born in Truro, NS., on October 28th, 1922, the daughter of the late George H. and Mary “Minnie” Eunice (Bourgeois) Craig. Beulah graduated from Truro High School in 1940 and subsequently Business College. While working in Truro she met Harry, who was stationed in Debert at that time. Married in 1946, they settled in Halifax, NS. For their entire married life Harry and Beulah were inseparable. Close to each other’s families, they alternated weekends visiting with her parents in Truro and Harrys parents East Chezzetcook. They also enjoyed yearly summer trips to New England and in later years, further abroad.
Beulah was a faithful parishioner of St. Agnes Church where she was a long time member of CWL, Altar Society and Children of Mary. She looked forward to her participation in the annual “St. Agnes Tea and Sale” and worked tirelessly with her coworkers to ensure it was a success. Not one to “stay still very long” she did enjoy spending time in the summer at “The Waegwoltic” over the years as well as outings to the beach, Clam Harbour was a favorite.
In the most recent years, a resident of Parkland Clayton Park, she enjoyed frequent outings with her family and friend of many years Elizabeth Mantey for shopping and ice cream.
In addition to her parents, Beulah was predeceased by her sister in law Muriel “Mona” Burns (late Arthur).
She is survived by her husband of nearly 72 years, Harry and son Donald along with Philip and friend of many years Elizabeth. In addition to her brother in law Cyril (Audrey) Colford. Beulah is also survived by her Goddaughter and niece Donna, along with nieces Doreen, Helen, Judy, Patsy and Joanne as well as nephews David, Gerard, Barry and Jimmy.
A visitation will be held at Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd. Halifax from 2-4 pm on Sunday, May 13th, 2018. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christion Burial which will be celebrated on Monday, May 14th, at 11:00 AM from St. Agnes Church 6903 Mumford Rd. Halifax, NS. Interment will take place in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Truro. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, St. Vincent de Paul Society or the Charity of their choice would be appreciated. Arrangements under the care of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd. Halifax.
