Obituary for Betty Keene
Surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Watford Quality Care, Betty Keene (nee Wells) passed away at the age of 97. Beloved wife to the late John Keene (1975). Cherished mother to Jennifer Keene-Moore and her husband David Harry of Southlake, Texas and Heather (Arts) Megdell and her husband Dr. Jacob Megdell of Petrolia, Ontario. Proud grandmother to Jade Harry (Matthew Aglialoro), and Owen Harry, and Justin (Grace) Arts, Amanda (Tristan Britt) Arts and Emily (Devin) Graszat. Predeceased by her parents, Hamel and Dorothy Wells, her siblings, Edmund (June) Wells, Dorothy (Ronald) Almandoz and Joan Chisholm, and her son-in-law, John Arts (1999). Betty will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Born in Trinidad, Betty had a long career as a school nurse in Sarnia and Lambton County since the 1960’s. She was very involved with the Canadian Cancer Society, driving people to London for treatments, and she was also a long time active member of Christ Church Anglican, Petrolia, where she was a choir member, board member and volunteered with the ACW. Betty loved her crossword puzzles because they kept her mind sharp. She also loved to grow roses, orchids, and bonsai. Visitors will be received by the family on Thursday from 6-8pm at the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, 4059 Petrolia Line, Petrolia. A funeral service will take place at 11:30 a.m. with an additional one hour visitation prior to the service on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Christ Church Anglican, 414 Oil St, Petrolia. Interment in Hillsdale Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made by cheque to Christ Church Anglican, Petrolia or the Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca).
