We are all saddened by the passing of our dear Uncle Bert. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Doreen; sisters, Harriet and Christina; brother in laws, Tom and Art; nephews, Eric and Colin. He is survived by his nieces and nephews. Chris and Deb, Margaret and Steve,
Shirley, Bonnie and Joanna, Trish, Sandra and Debra; numerous great and great great nieces and nephews; Leigh & Ken; grandchildren and great grandchild; not to mention the many good friends that he made over his lifetime old and new.
Bert and Doreen lived in Victoria until 2013 when they relocated to Parksville to be closer to family. Bert was a WWII veteran and had many stories to share with us over the years. He was a gifted musician, composer and conductor and led the Arion Choir, among other Choirs, and gave voice lessons. He loved soccer and played as a young man through to his 80’s and coached youth soccer.” Go Newcastle”. Bert was also a long time member of Vancouver & Quadra Lodge Scottish Rite and Royal Arch.
He lived an extraordinary life and was much loved by those who knew him you were his “Pal” or his “Pet”.
In keeping with Bert’s wishes, no service will be held. Celebrate his life by enjoying a soccer match or maybe hit a round of golf, listen to a beautiful aria and raise a glass to celebrate a man who was an inspiration to us all.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour Bert may do so by making a donation to youth sports or music groups in your local area or any charity you wish.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Bertie STORAR July 28 1919 April 13 2018 (age 98).source
